the space

Pleasantville, originally constructed in the 1980s-90s by a British hydrologist, was more or less abandoned until it became a refurbished homestay in 2019 when the hosts visited the area and fell in love with the mountains. Now, they offer the use of the property for travellers to share their love of mountain views and the joy of being in the midst of towering cedar and pine trees.

Pleasantville is more than just a place to stay. Experience serenity and connect with nature even as you enjoy all the comforts of home. The hosts welcome you to their pet-friendly property, where you will keep company with the natural world amidst trees and mountain breezes. And in the true spirit of sustainability, the property raises the bar on eco-consciousness with a plastic-free zone, catering to the philosophy of sustainable practices.

comforts

Pleasantville offers 3 unique rooms, along with shared spaces like a patio, garden with a bonfire pit, wooden cabin, and indoor dining-living room. Enjoy heated beds during winter and have a pedestal fan during summer. You will also have an electric kettle, interesting tea blends, and WiFi access throughout the property.

One room is on the ground floor and boasts a cosy patio with mountain views, wooden accents, and rustic charm for two adults. The other two rooms are comfortable and spacious bedrooms on the first floor with a private sitting area, suitable for two adults and can easily accommodate a third person. While one offers a view of spectacular cedar trees through the window, the other room, with a view of the mountains and pine forests, has a colonial vibe with high ceilings.

Whichever room you choose, you only have to step out to the patio to enjoy the fresh mountain air, peace, and quiet with incredible views all around.

food

Shantiniketan offers delicious vegetarian meals from their kitchen, using local ingredients according to the seasons. You will get traditional Indian breakfast options like cheela, poha, parathas, aaloo poori, and idli sambhar, along with international choices like pancakes, open toast, and sandwiches.

For lunch and dinner, inform them of your arrival time, and you will enjoy their hearty North Indian Thalis. They will also take care of any special dietary needs if you let them know in advance. For the interested, there is an in-house menu that includes continental meals, snacks, and beverages.

Want an outdoor experience? With a prior request, you can enjoy al fresco lunches, cozy dinners, and barbecues for an extra charge that’s totally worth it.
