the space

The property is tucked away at the foothills of the Himalayas in the Dehradun Valley and is located by a reserve forest. This boutique homestay is run by a family of artists who are passionate about sustainability and slow travel. Based on these ideologies, they’ve created what they believe to be the perfect balance between indulgence and raw oneness with nature. They believe in maintaining a zero waste policy and grow a variety of fascinating plants in the garden that surrounds the cabin. Keeping this ecological temperament in mind the property is pretty much completely a plastic free zone.

comforts

This tastefully designed property is the definition of the word exclusivity and comes with just one room with an option of an extra bed for a third person. The property is situated next to a reserve forest, in one of the greenest patches in Dehradun. One is sure to enjoy the landscape and the serene environment of its surroundings. The cabin is a beautiful blend of Indian and European architecture with a special focus on ecologically aware design and attention to detail. Many of the elements in the construction of the Cabin have been upcycled, to bring life and soul to inanimate walls, some as old as 80 years from the host’s grandfather’s home. For example the cabinet in the cottage was once a film drying cabinet for photography. The room has a handcrafted king sized bed along with a beautifully designed contemporary bathroom, a private verandah, private BBQ area and a brick finished patio which overlook the surrounding forest.

food

The hosts have designed the menu with many secret recipes passed down in the family for generations. Some of them include a delicious aged cinnamon rum, aged beyond 6 months as well as homemade pickles with ingredients straight off the trees on the property (like jackfruit, mango etc). Breakfast is complimentary, while home cooked meals can be requested in advance for lunch and dinner. The hosts are sensitive to their guest’s palettes and are open to curating special meals for their vegan guests.
