Nestled in five acres of private virgin forest on a remote mountain top in Idukki district of Kerala, the property overlooks lush green valleys of the Western Ghats. The hosts believe in responsible tourism that is a transformative force which has the power to revitalise local communities, create jobs and safeguard destinations for generations to come. The hosts have an ecologically smart temperament and strive to maintain the property as close to nature as possible. Some initiatives towards the same include harnessing energy through solar to power the lights as well as using natural springs as their main source of filtered water. Thus the property is completely off-the-grid, with only solar energy for electricity, no Wi-Fi, no TV and only a weak mobile telephone network. This way, one gets a real chance to integrate and bond authentically with nature. Care has been taken to build only the basic necessities without disturbing the surrounding flora and fauna, therefore only basic (yet comfortable) amenities are offered.
There are two cottages on the property that are built tastefully by native craftsmen. The stone cottage is a fifty year old labour shed that has been restored to represent a quaint and classy English cottage and still retains its old world charm. The cottage even has a traditional English four post bed. With bamboo sourced from the tribal people of the area and the help of local artisans, the second cottage resembles a tree house which comes with an attached bathroom and a bathtub. Additionally, two tents are available to enjoy a camping experience that can be pitched facing the valley and accommodates up to three people. However, the tents are only available for those who book either of the cottages.
Guests can enjoy traditional, local Kerala vegetarian and non- vegetarian cuisine prepared by the cook at the property.
The place is ideal for true nature lovers who believe in pure a bond that exists outside of the modern way of living. Bird and animal enthusiasts will find the property to be a paradise for natural living and sustainability, so those with the same mindset are encouraged to explore the place.
