the space

Set on the bank of a raging river, this beautiful homestay is run by a welcome couple who’ve poured a lot of love into the construction of their cottage. The hosts have spent a significant amount of time to make sure that Noor Jehan is as ecologically unobtrusive as possible. Surrounded by incredible alpine forests and the sound of gushing water, you’ll get to experience Kashmir at its absolute best.

comforts

There are a total of six large rooms with king-size beds at Noor Jehan. Two of these are in the main house while four overlook the river in a separate building. Each room has its own bathroom with simple amenities, one electric heater, slippers, toilet paper roll, guest soaps, and towels. Extra blankets, a room heater, and hot water bottles are available in each room.  Coziness is a priority out here, clearly!

If you’re traveling with a young child, a fully equipped baby bed is available and if you come under-packed, the hosts will provide warm jackets and clothes for kids and adults alike so you’ll never be wanting.

food

Eat Kashmiri delicacies like Wazwan, or indulge in some excellent homemade food. There is a “Dish of the Day” (vegetarian or non-vegetarian), or Indian food prepared by the hosts or the cook, with all seasonal and regional ingredients.

For breakfast, try freshhh Kashmiri bread (called Tsoth), delectable homemade jams made with plums, apricots, and strawberries, and drizzle your meals with white honey harvested in the village. Take your meals or breakfast in the garden, with a view of the river, or by the warmth of the wood-stove in the dining room.

ideal for

Good ol’ Noor Jehan is perfect for families, couples, and groups. The hosts are very friendly and like to share their experiences and life with their guests, but if you want privacy and some quiet time, you’ll get it in plenty.

getting there

The property is located 3 hours from Srinagar airport. Accurate details will be given at the time of confirmation.

things to do

Do nothing! Listen to the sound of the gushing river and the beautiful mountains from the balcony of your room. If you love adventure, the hosts support local entrepreneurs by offering a host of activities like trekking, sightseeing, fishing, lunch with the locals, barbecues, and horse riding.

We discourage this, but bring your work here if you need to – there’s network and internet. Otherwise, read a book! Or play from a variety of board games and bond with your family/friends in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

price

Prices start at Rs. 6,500 for two inclusive of breakfast and dinner in the main building and Rs. 7,500 for two inclusive of breakfast and dinner in the riverside building. 5% GST is applicable on the final billing amount.
