the space
The Farm by the Creek is a riverside farm initiative, located on the banks of one of Kabini river’s main tributaries. The property and its hosts strive towards conserving and nurturing the biodiversity of its surrounding environs. Skirted by lush paddy fields and plantations with a village backdrop offering you scenic vistas and opportunities for leisurely strolls, cycling, and photography. The hosts live on the farm and plant trees, grow their own vegetables and fruits, and house a modest number of chickens, goats, and cows. The hosts wholeheartedly embrace a slow-paced lifestyle, typical of a small Keralan village. They value the community’s culture and traditions, employing locals and sourcing indigenously-made goods as a way of showing respect and support to the natives. The property is your getaway from the daily grind and an off-beat alternative to run-of-the-mill establishments. So- slow down, soak in the crisp Wayanadan air, and experience the local way of life.
comforts
The Farm by the Creek is a private, four-room riverside retreat. The cottages are a delicate yet experimental mix of earthy colours and textures, subtly influenced by Malabar architecture and rustic farmhouses, offering great views of the surrounding beauty. Airy and inviting, the rooms come with sit-outs, enclosed decks, and comfy mattresses laid on vintage, king-size beds. Between all the coconut, bamboo, mango, jackfruit, and cashew trees, you’ll also find secluded hammocks and swings. Open areas and sumptuous grass ensure a safe playground for children. They can even interact with the farm animals. In addition to all this, there’s a common terrace area ideal for winding down with a hot cuppa.
food
Wholesome meals are prepared using animal and plant-based produce, which are either home-grown or locally sourced, and entirely free of chemicals, a rarity these days. On any given day, a variety of the freshest local fare can be found on the table, and you can take full advantage of seasonal, home-cooked specialities at mealtime. The meals prepared are typically South Indian and Keralan cuisine.
