crown of the ghats
Set amidst sylvan surroundings and lush greenery over 150 acres, this 75+-year-old heritage estate bungalow promises unpolluted and rustic countryside living with its slow, ambling pace. The property is an authentic and enchanting plantation house, in close proximity to the origin of one of the majestic rivers of Kerala. It is sheltered by rubber trees, various spice trees, and indigenous plants. The property falls under the Western Ghats of Sahyadri mountain ranges, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is one of the eight hotspots of biological diversity of the world. The hosts ensure that all the local communities benefit socially, culturally, economically, and environmentally from their guest visits, and it is a promise that they seek to keep.
The property has eight tastefully furnished, spacious rooms with attached baths. The rooms are furnished with mahogany floors and antique handpicked furniture. Four rooms are in the main house, while two are located in a house in the garden. Two more rooms are located a short walk away in the woods, ideal for those who’d like more privacy. All rooms come with attached bathrooms, western toilets, and solar-powered hot water (there are geysers available as backup for the days when the sun don’t shine!). The property is functional all year.
The food here is legendary! A variety of traditional Keralan delicacies and Indian dishes are served. The spices and vegetables used are organically grown on the estate or sourced from the surrounding villages. The fresh coffee served comes from the estate’s plantations and is the perfect brew. The water is sourced from the natural springs of the surrounding mountains, filtered in-house before offering to guests.
The property is ideal for people who appreciate natural surroundings and estate living; the place is quiet, serene and perfect for reading, painting, birdwatching, etc. Guests who want to explore a non-touristy and rural region of Kerala will appreciate the surroundings, the organic farms, and the countryside.
The property is about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Kochi International airport. Accurate details will be provided at the time of confirmation.
