Kenneth’s Bunker is located two hours away from the city of Bangalore. It is surrounded by rocky hills, forests, and hilltops dotted with several temples at an altitude of almost 4000ft above MSL. This region is well-known for trekking, wonderful climate, scenery, and wildlife.
The late Kenneth Anderson, after whom this home is named, was an Indian-born, British writer and hunter who wrote books about his adventures in the neighbouring jungles. And we’re sure he’d love this place. The property has a small self-contained cabin furnished out of an old restored shipping container giving the sole room the feel of a tiny home. Perfect for trying out a simpler, more minimal lifestyle! The aim is to develop homes that have a low carbon footprint along with the basic necessities one needs for their comfort.
The property establishes a sense of simple lifestyle (downsizing and reducing things in the home) that helps you adapt to these spaces without detaching too much from your comfort zone. The idea is to create a home that also caters to the needs of relaxation in the pristine environments one normally can’t find in cities.
comforts
The bunker comes with all the comforts one would expect at home and can easily host a family of 2 adults and 2 children, or three adults. The container is equipped with a queen-sized bed, an attached bath with hot water, a kettle, and a mini-refrigerator. Not satisfied? There are two foldable chairs to lounge outside and soak in the views and breathe in unadulterated oxygen. The property is operational all year.
food
Our caretaker can prepare fabulous meals with fresh and crunchy ingredients sourced from nearby farms for a nominal fee. You are welcome to carry your own food too or visit the nearby small local restaurants (5 km minimum).

things to do
From the farm, you have access to some epic lakes, hikes, and trails. The property is located at the foothills of the majestic DRD and the hosts offer a guided trek to the top of the hill which usually takes about 4 hours. There’s a gherkin and pickle processing factory nearby, so if you’re up for it, the hosts will take you on a tour and show you how gherkins are picked, sorted, and packaged before they find their way into your sandwich. There are historic temples around these parts if you’d like to soak in the local culture.
price
The cabin is priced at Rs. 5,770 inclusive of accommodation and taxes. An additional fee of Rs. 1,200 per person per day takes care of three meals, a bonfire, and a half-day guided walk/hike.
