the space

The Falcon’s Abode resides above the Tirthan river and offers a unique view of the entire valley, the river, and surrounding snow-capped peaks. It is located in a small village in front of the Great Himalayan National Park. Fitted out with stone exteriors, wood, and cob interiors, the property is perched on the edge of a deodar forest, in the middle of apple orchards.

Additionally, the property lies at an altitude of over 6500 ft, far from the crowds of Tirthan valley. It is the perfect choice for those who want to escape modern civilisation and rejuvenate in pristine natural surroundings. The hosts have been successful in providing employment to local villagers as guides, trek leaders, caretakers, etc., and they’ve been responsible for planting indigenous trees, preventing forest fires, and promoting the use of green technology in the Himalayas.

The hosts play an active part in dousing forest fires that rage through these parts in the drier months. Using drones to identify and locate fires, the hosts and the local community have played a significant role in reducing the impact of fires in the valley over the last 7 years.

They also promote healing physically or mentally-challenged persons with forest bathing through their nature-healing programs.

comforts

The house has 3 double rooms with attached bathrooms and provision for an extra bed each. Earth tones and an abundance of plants by the large windows create a soothing ambience. You will have access to the dining and living room areas and a mini-library. Make music here too. There’s a keyboard and a Spanish guitar to practice on.

The property is functional all year, but it is a homestay and you will be sharing the space with the family.

food

The hosts serve traditional food that is delicious as it is healthy. You can ask for something continental too – a baked dish or pasta is rich with local cheese. Non-vegetarians can try mutton or feast on local trout from the Tirthan river (at an additional cost). Breakfasts are usually traditional like hot, steaming parathas with yoghurt, or are simple and familiar, like warm, buttery toast with a side of eggs.

ideal for

The property boasts peaceful surroundings and exclusivity from city life. It is ideal for families, couples, and solo travellers. Artists, musicians, yoga enthusiasts, bibliophiles and hikers alike can enjoy the offerings of the valley.
